2 oz bourbon 1⁄4 oz gingerbread syrup (see below) 2-3 dashes Angostura bitters Orange twist garnish
1 cup water 1 cup brown sugar 1⁄4 cup molasses 2 teaspoons ground ginger 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1⁄2 teaspoon allspice 1⁄4 teaspoon clove Pinch black pepper
In a small saucepan, combine all syrup ingredients and bring to a boil over high heat.
Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened slightly.
Allow to cool completely then transfer to a glass bottle or jar. Store in the refrigerator for up to 1 month.
Add bourbon, gingerbread syrup, and bitters to a mixing glass filled with ice.
Stir until well-chilled and diluted, about 30 seconds.
Strain into an old fashioned glass filled with 1 large ice cube.
