4 cups sliced apples (about 4 apples), skins left on 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1 tablespoon lemon juice 1⁄3 cup packed brown sugar 2 tablespoons water 2 tablespoons butter, cut into small pieces Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, for serving (optional)
Place the apple slices into a greased 3-4 qt crockpot.
In a small bowl, combine the cinnamon, lemon juice, brown sugar and water. Stir to dissolve the sugar. Pour over the apples and gently toss to combine.
Scatter the butter pieces over the apples.
Cover the crockpot with the lid and cook on HIGH for 2 hours or LOW for 4 hours, until apples are very tender.
Stir the apples gently before serving. If desired, serve topped with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for extra deliciousness!
